Female Bodybuilding - How to Gain Weight

Not everyone taking up female bodybuilding is trying to lose weight. Some people are just skinny and they are, in fact, trying to gain weight! Unfortunately, the masses of information out there are for those who are trying to lose weight. So you may be starving for good information about how to gain weight quickly. Well, you are in luck. In this article, we will deal with the issue of gaining weight.

First of all, you have to understand that our body is composed of different things - water, fat and muscles. These 3 elements make up the weight of the human body. So when you weigh yourself on a weighing machine, you are really seeing the combined weight of all these 3 elements. So whether you are trying to lose weight or gain weight, you have to remember that you are really trying to manipulate the weight of these 3 elements.

Of course, you lose (and gain) water very quickly. So there is not much to talk about gaining weight by gaining WATER weight. You can drink a lot of water at one go and see yourself gaining an additional 500 grams within minutes. But when you go for a jog, you can easily lose water weight of 500 grams or more.

Most people gain weight by building up fat in the body. Fat is NOT the enemy. It is just a form of stored energy and in many cases, can be beneficial to health. But TOO MUCH fat can cause problems for the body because arteries become constricted and this affects the functioning of vital organs such as the heart. Because of such health issues, you DON'T want to put your health at risk by gaining weight using fat.

So the only element left is MUSCLE. Why is building muscle good for your body? Muscles help to increase the metabolic rate of the body and this is the ONLY strategy that will work in the long term if you are looking to gain weight. In fact, muscles weigh MORE than fat and if you are building up muscle mass correctly, you find yourself pleasantly surprised with the results.
